We used the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee as an excuse to visit another world famous Betty. Bettys has been going strong in pretty Harrogate for 93 years and now has five sister cafes around the area. The traditional afternoon tea came served on an elegant silver cake stand with a matching pot of loose leaf tea. There’s always a long (though quick-moving) queue to get seated, but on a weekend from 12.30pm you can book ahead for a special afternoon tea in the upstairs Imperial Room.
