This new pub was once a rather dodgy boozer with shady clientele. Now, thanks to the Antic pub group, it’s been given a thorough makeover. The original fireplaces have been restored (they were necessarily roaring when we visited on an abysmal Sunday afternoon) and the two huge rooms are now filled with cosy, mismatched furniture. The menu is trad-pub (burgers, fish pies, Sunday roasts), there are interesting indie beers on tap and there’s a lovely convivial atmosphere. It’s exactly what Clapton needs.
