Abandoned for seven years, this waterside building has been reborn as The Wharf, a classic, heritage-style gastropub with lofty timber beams and an expansive front terrace overlooking a bend in canal full of cheerful-looking houseboats. The menu is eclectic: seared scallops or asparagus with hollandaise if you’re feeling fancy; lamb hot pot and sticky toffee pudding if it’s a comfort food day. The wine list includes plenty by the glass and the well-stocked island bar boasts over 200 spirits. We’re impressed.
