Jake’s has reopened, dropping its ‘bar & grill’ moniker and installing a copper-pot still in its kitchen. A still is essentially a large kettle. This one brews up flavoured alcohol including limoncello and Yorkshire Tea vodka, to create cocktails such as the dandelion and burdock-infused fine and dandy. We were impressed with the Portobello Road martini, using gin from London sister pub, The Portobello Star. A ploughman’s platter with cheeses, warm bread and pickle was a hit.
