New, smart beauty packaging

Your face is from the future

Beauty brands have been working hard to create packaging that makes their products work even harder. Here are some that we don’t want our makeup bag to be without.

Brush strokes

No more losing sponges! The Surreal Skin Foundation Wand, from New York-based makeup artist Troy Surratt’s eponymous tech-forward line, dispenses a self-setting, oil-free base through an angled brush in one click – which is great for retouching. And it comes in 15 shades. £50, Liberty

Going alone

Individual treatment vials aren’t breaking news, but Elizabeth Arden are up front in harnessing the idea. One-dose pouches mean you’ll never overuse (or spill!) an investment product and they are ideal for travelling – like their Skin Illuminating Brightening Night Capsules. £60, Elizabeth Arden

Wing dings

Everyone’s got their favourite liquid eyeliner. But speaking from tentative experience, it is worth cheating on it with Lancôme’s new Grandiôse Liner. The handle can be held straight or at a 35-degree angle, which gives you the flexibility needed to get that cat-eye flick just right. £23, Lancôme

Don't touch

Ark Skincare cleverly protect their products from germy fingers; their airless pump moisturisers release a metred dose, but the Reverse Gravity Eye Cream goes further – the dispensing position allows you to apply direct to your skin, and there’s a roller ball to massage it in. £48, Ark Skincare
