Things to do this weekend in London: August 19 – 21

The Night Tube launches tomorrow – the future has arrived! But we’re taking a more vintage approach to our weekend

Groundhog Day the Musical

On repeat

You may recall us encouraging you to book for new musical Groundhog Day a few months ago. Well, there’s still time! But be quick. Tim Minchin’s adaption of the cult film has just opened, and is already looking like a darkly comic classic. Until 17 September; from £12; The Old Vic, The Cut, SE1 8NB

Make Do And Mend vintage shop

Bulk buy

It’s hard to decide on vintage buys when faced with a myriad of unique choice. But old-school stores Make Do and Mend and Blue Rinse are hosting a vintage kilo sale where you grab what you want, get it weighed, and pay £15 per kilo. Head straight for the lace! 20 August; 10am – 6pm; free entry; POP Brixton, 49 Brixton Station Road, SW9 8PQ

Tube-themed London bar Cahoots

Stay up late

The Night Tube is coming. It sounds vaguely like a villain from a plumbing-based horror movie. It’s not, though, and to celebrate its arrival, Underground-themed bar Cahoots is hosting a special party with a limited edition cocktail menu and music until dawn. You'll want to book ahead. 19 August; 4pm – 3am; Kingly Court, 13 Kingly St, W1B 5PG

A tatty devine triangle shaped necklace

You’ll make it

Long for those days when you didn’t pay electricity bills and made cool stuff at weekends? Bust’s Craftacular sorts one of those; over 70 designers and makers like Tatty Devine and Rob Ryan are hosting workshops, there’ll be DJs, food and drink, and the first 100 shoppers get goodie bags. 21 August; 11am – 5pm; £3 entry York Hall, 5 Old Ford Road, E2 9PJ

Swapp community events

Switch up

This is good: community project Swopp is hosting an event where you can swap beloved items (from sunglasses to modern art) you no longer need with someone else’s – no money changes hands, you just need to make sure what you’re trading is still in good condition. 21 August; 2-6pm; Wild Card Brewery, Unit 7, Shernall Street, E17 9HQ
