When we need a failsafe birthday present for a friend, the V&A Shop is our first port of call. Its sample sale opens tomorrow, with everything under £60. Expect fashion, jewellery, books and homewares. All profits from the sale are ploughed back into funding a museum that is truly brilliant. Opening times are 6 Sept: 1pm-5.30pm, 7 Sept: 10am-10pm, 8 Sept: 10am-5.30pm.
