Screenwriter Nora Ephron has died aged 71. Her wit and honesty shone through scripts such as Sleepless In Seattle, Julie & Julia and When Harry Met Sally. Her semi-autobiographical novel Heartburn, inspired by her marriage to Carl Bernstein, was a sad and poignant story. Ephron valued strong female characters: “Above all,” she said, “be the heroine of your life, not the victim.”
