Tesco

We’ve been hankering for a decent striped dress for a while now – they’re just as handy for a hot day in the office as a walk round the park. Didn’t think to look in Tesco though, did we? Being green and black, this F&F number makes a nice difference to the usual nautical vibes. £15, Tesco

Debenhams

Finding a good nude shoe is like stumbling across footwear Shangri-La – an unyielding and thankless task until suddenly you’re in Debenhams and Ben de Lisi has created these lovely heels, just for you! A mid-height heel and T-bar mean a well-supported ankle, too. £39, Debenhams

Marks & Spencer

It’s that time of year when your clothes need to be breathable, light enough to chuck in a bag, good in a downpour and, you know, match things you already own. This pure cotton utility jacket has all of that going for it, and also uses technology that means the buttons won’t fall off. *Round of applause*. £49.50, M&S

John Lewis

It doesn’t feel right calling a clutch this nice an ‘occasion’ bag. But of course it is – it’s great for weddings, especially if you’re wearing something fairly understated and want your accessories to work a bit harder. And it has a strap, so if you’re on photo duty there’s no risk of getting camera-elbow. £49, John Lewis
